For the birds

Two new pieces. The skoot! one was a quick warm up sketch done just to release some of my frustration at having ginormous hair. The owl one is for one of my oldest friends who just had a beautiful baby girl! Her nursery has a few super cute owls in it, so I thought I'd stick to that theme.

Guitar

Always wanted to learn how to play the guitar. It's still on my bucket list.

I post a lot of sketches and works in progress on my facebook. If you're interested, find it here: https://www.facebook.com/ArtOfAlisheaGibson

Sketches

Lately I've been playing around a lot with ink and watercolor in my sketchbooks. It's fun because it allows me to be a bit looser with my sketchbook drawings.

This morning while walking to class I walked by this bush that was surrounded by a bunch of fluttering butterflies. It was such a small moment in my day, but it was so beautiful. Not sure what kind of bush it was, but if I had a garden I'd plant a ton of them so I'd be surrounded by butterflies everyday.

Also I like bears:

Done in Adobe Photoshop CS6.

Ladies

Thinking about a new lady character for a story. I think I might go younger though. Hmmm...we'll see. For now I'll leave you with these. The top one is colored pencils and conte crayon and the bottom is acrylic paint and colored pencils.

Sketching

It's always good practice to keep a sketchbook with you everywhere you go. I've found that if I have it on me, there's no reason not to use it :)

Been experimenting a lot with loose shapes as starts to characters. I knock out a large shape with a marker and then use a fine tip pen for the line work. Nothing fancy, but gives me options to explore.

I'm not particularly fond of the Game of Thrones, but the costumes are pretty awesome. Here's a sample of a few quick & dirty sketches. Can you name any of the characters?

Playing around with dresses. These are mini sketches.  Each is only about an inch tall.

Inspiration from friends

Inspired by a few friends' pictures posted on facebook recently. Also, if you're interested, I post a lot more rough sketches and whatnot to my Facebook Art Page: https://www.facebook.com/ArtOfAlisheaGibson

This first image is from a friends picture of her outfit. The color, light and outfit fit well together so I used it for one of my paintings.
This is a small painting of my friends' dog wearing my friends' signature red starry boots and round glasses.
